Management of the Food & Beverage Supply Chain: cost or opportunity?

DNV GL - Business Assurance and GFK Eurisko carried out a survey on the management of the Food & Beverage supply chain. The survey was conducted in February 2013 and involved some 500 food & beverage professionals from companies in Europe, North America, South America and Asia. 

Some key findings

  • The main risk areas perceived by companies across all geographies and segments are food safety (63%) and quality (54%).
  • Europeans and North Americans are more worried about financial risks than Asians and South Americans.
  • There is no single recipe to mitigate risks. Companies rely on an orchestration of different actions.
  • Pressure from customers is the no. 1 reason why companies engage in risk management (52%).
