DNV Singapore held our Aerospace Standards transition seminar on 06 March 2017. With a great turnout, everyone was eager to find out about the Aerospace Standards Transition. After all, all audits after June 2017 must be to the new standard!
The day started off with registration, where participants were given a goodie bag with some gifts and important information for them.
Our regional manager, Percy Lakdawalla, was on hand to welcome everyone. He gave a speech on the future of management systems. It was insightful and important to everyone because management systems are at the core of what we all do. Such systems help companies manage issues in a systematic way in a wide range of areas including quality, ethics, occupational health and safety. Participants were given a brief introduction on how when integrated and implemented well, management systems can help companies actively manage risks and continually improve their performance.
Next up, Aerospace Sector Manager, Jimmy Phuah, held a little maths quiz at the start. This was a great hit with everyone! Participants were engaged and putting up their hands to win prizes for the right answers. It was a fun way to show people how important it is to look at things carefully, and that things may not always be as they seem at first glance. Highly relevant as this is important when it comes to AS and other management system certifications.
The participants were listening to Jimmy intently and taking notes during the main section on the AS Transition. The agenda was for participants to understand and interpret the changes in AS 9100:2016, get ready for the transition plan to ISO 9001:2015 + AS 9100:2016, learn how to develop strategies to effectively implement the changes, and prepare for re-certification to AS 9100:2016.
We also had a Q&A session at the end of the seminar. It was a great opportunity for participants to get answers to any queries they had and it provided a platform for everyone else to listen in and learn things they might not have thought about.
It wasn’t just all listening at the seminar! We catered a mini buffet of food for our seminar participants, which was a great time for them to network and talk to our sales team to find out more about the AS Transition and what DNV can do for them. Our speaker, Jimmy Phuah, is well known in the industry and people were lining up to talk to him too.
